HALDO Lift-Off Door Mini Feeder Pillars
frequently asked questions
What is a Haldo Mini Feeder Pillar?

A compact feeder pillar designed to provide secure housing and access for electrical equipment, while offering a removable lift-off door for convenient installation and maintenance.

What is the different between a mini feeder pillar and a standard feeder pillar?

A mini pillar is widely considered to be a smaller sized pillar with a lift off rather than a hinged door, and an integral root rather than a bolt on/detachable root plinth. For standard feeder pillars and plinth mounted feeder pillars please visit this link or for larger units this link.

What are they used for?

Mini feeder pillars are typically used to house electrical distribution and control equipment in applications such as street lighting, car parks, commercial developments, utilities and other external installations.

Why choose a lift-off door?

The lift-off door can be completely removed, providing unobstructed access to the equipment inside. This makes installation, inspection and maintenance easier, particularly where working space is limited.

What is the advantage of Haldo’s lift off door mini pillars?

Haldo mini pillar doors wrap around the unit so that when removed it is easy to access the equipment inside.

Are the doors secure?

Yes. The door is designed to provide secure access to the equipment within the pillar. The specific locking arrangement depends on the configuration selected.

What size are the mini feeder pillars?

Haldo offers a range of sizes and configurations. Please refer to the relevant product dimensions and technical specification for the available options.

What material are they made from?

The pillar and door are manufactured from 3mm mild steel which has been hot dip galvanised to BS EN 1461 providing suitability for external electrical installations.

How long do Haldo’s pillars last?

Haldo mini feeder pillars have a 25 year design life.

Are they suitable for outdoor use?

Yes. The pillars are designed for external applications. The galvanised finish gives excellent protection against corrosion.

Do the pillars come in different colours and paint finishes?

Yes, Haldo can supply a wide range of different finishes and colours including powdercoating.

Can the pillar be customised?

Yes. Options may be available for dimensions, locks, types of backboard and finishes such as bitumen or glass flake roots or coloured painted and powdercoated top coats.

How is equipment mounted inside?

The units are supplied with a ply backboard to mount equipment to. Different grades or ply and rot proof recycled plastic backboards are available.

How does cabling enter the pillar?

Cable entry is through the base of the pillar.

Where can I find the technical drawings?

Technical drawings, dimensions and product specifications are available from Haldo.

How do I choose the right mini feeder pillar?
